Geography
The highest height of the village center is 140 meters. It is located on the Zhuravka River near its confluence with the Khopyor River . The nearest settlement is Krasny Yar , located two kilometers away.
History
In 1749, a Temple was built in the village in the name of the holy silver-free and wonderworkers Cosmas and Damian. Thrones: The main one - in the name of the holy silver coins and wonderworkers Cosmas and Damian, in the aisle - in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.
A wooden, with a wooden bell tower, two-altar church was built in the village of Zhuravka, Balashov district of the Saratov province (now Bolshaya Zhuravka) in 1749 by the scrutiny of Prince Boris Alexandrovich Lobanov-Rostovsky. It was rebuilt in 1853. The clergy consisted of a priest, deacon, and psalm-reader; the priest lived in a church house. There was a church school in the village. Behind the temple were 3115 Orthodox parishioners.
