To the south of Asahi are the Iide Mountains, the slopes of which are covered with forests of Japanese beech . To the south is the Bandai volcano with a height of 1819 m, to the south of it is Lake Inavashiro , surrounded by active volcanic cones. The hollow of the lake was formed by a grand explosion in the I century AD. er In 1888 an explosion occurred here, due to which a crater 2 km in diameter was formed.
