History
It was founded in 1784 as a model German Protestant village within the framework of the policy of the Austrian colonization under the name Gelsendorf. In the 1920s and 30s, natural gas was found on the lands of the village, which led to a sharp improvement in the well-being of German peasants.
In 1941, most of the German population was repatriated to the German Reich, on the territory of the so-called. Wartegau (the area around the Warta River, captured from Poland in 1939 and annexed to the Reich). At the same time, a transfer camp was organized in Gelsendorf for the Poles deported from Wartegau.
After the war, the village was inhabited by Ukrainian and Russian collective farmers.
