Diplomatic relations
Diplomatic relations between the USSR and Colombia were established on June 25, 1935, the exchange of ambassadors took place in 1943. However, already in 1948, after the riots in Bogota , the organization of which the "Soviet agents" were accused of, the Colombian authorities broke off diplomatic relations. They were restored at the initiative of the Colombian side on January 19, 1968. On December 27, 1991, the Colombian government announced the recognition of the Russian Federation as a successor state to the USSR. [one]
Visa Relations
On March 13, 2011, the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Colombia on the conditions for refusing visa formalities for mutual trips of citizens of the Russian Federation and citizens of the Republic of Colombia, signed in New York on September 24, 2010, entered into force.
Citizens of the Russian Federation who are holders of valid passports, with the exception of diplomatic, official, and official passports, which give the right to cross the border, can enter (leave, follow in transit and stay) in Colombia without visas for up to ninety (90) days during each period one hundred eighty (180) days from the date of their first entry.
