The village was formed in the 16th century after the capture of Kazan by the Russian troops and the conquest of the Kazan Khanate by the Mordvins-Moksha, who migrated from the forests located on the border of the Temnikovsky district of the Republic of Mordovia and the Arzamas district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. The village New-Drakino was supposedly named after the ravine Draka, located nearby. Until 2010, the village was part of the Starodrakinsky rural settlement, and is now part of the Kazenno-Maidan rural settlement.

Central Street, about 2 km long, has a central water supply, all streets are gasified, does not have hard roads, although at the beginning of the village there is an asphalt road to the district center of Kovylkino, which is 32 km away.

Currently, the main occupation of the villagers is the development of personal plots, after which the products (milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, butter, berries) are brought to the market of Kovylkino . Forests and afforestation mostly mixed and pine give a large crop of mushrooms, the collection of which gives the villagers a big plus in the household.
