Initial Biography
Konstantin Alekseevich Malygin was born on November 7 (20), 1905 in the village of Nikolskoye, now in the Uyar district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
In 1917 he graduated from three classes of a school in his native village.
Military Service
Pre-war time
In October 1923 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army and sent to study at the Krasnoyarsk artillery school , after which in September 1927 he was appointed to the position of platoon commander in the artillery regiment ( 1st Kazan Rifle Division ).
Since February 1928, he commanded a platoon in artillery regiments as part of the 13th and 18th rifle corps ( Volga Military District ), and since March 1930 he served as assistant battery commander for political affairs, platoon training division commander and artillery battery battery commander .
In October 1931 he was appointed to the position of platoon commander of the artillery division of the Red Banner Infantry School, soon transformed into the Ulyanovsk Tank School , and in January 1933 - to the post of assistant commander of the division of the same school.
In November 1933, Malygin was sent to study at the Military Academy of Mechanization and Motorization of the Red Army , after which he was appointed in December 1937 to the post of chief of staff of the 38th light tank brigade , and in March 1941 to the post of chief of staff of the 41st Panzer Division ( 22nd Mechanized Corps , Kiev Special Military District ).
World War II
With the outbreak of war, the division during the border battle took part in the oncoming tank battle in the Lutsk region, including when counterattacking the South-Western Front on the flank of the 1st tank group of the enemy in the direction of Dubno , and then during the Kiev defensive operation - in defensive hostilities in the Korosten fortified area .
In August 1941, he was appointed commander of the 28th tank brigade , which soon took part in hostilities during the Mozhaisk-Maloyaroslavets and Klinsko-Solnechnogorsk defensive and Rzhev-Vyazem offensive operations , as well as in defensive and offensive operations in the Rzhev direction.
In December 1942, Malygin was appointed commander of the armored and mechanized forces of the 3rd shock army , which took part in the hostilities during the Velikoluksky offensive operation .
In February 1943 he was appointed commander of the Tambov military tank camp , which was engaged in the formation and training of tank and mechanized units and formations for the army. In August of the same year he was appointed commander of the 9th mechanized corps , who, during the battle for the Dnieper , pursuing the enemy in the Yagoty direction, crossed the Dnieper in the vicinity of the village of Zarubintsy and then led the fighting of the Bukrin bridgehead .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of November 17, 1943 for the skillful command of the corps and the courage and heroism shown in battles with the German fascist invaders, Major General Konstantin Alekseevich Malygin was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal .
Soon, the corps under the command of Malygin took part in the Kiev , Zhytomyr-Berdychiv and Proskurov-Chernivtsi offensive operations , as well as in the liberation of Kiev , Korostyshev and Zhytomyr .
In April 1944, he was appointed deputy commander of the Kharkov military tank camp for combat training.
Post-War Career
After the war he was in his former position.
In July 1945, Malygin was appointed commander of the 7th Training Tank Division , in October 1946 - the commander of the 9th Guards Tank Division , and in December 1948 - the senior lecturer of the Military Academy of Armored and Mechanized Forces of the Red Army.
In July 1950 he was sent to study at the Higher Academic Courses at the K.E. Voroshilov Higher Military Academy , after which he was appointed in July 1951 to the post of commander of the armored and mechanized forces of the Kiev Military District , in July 1953 - to the post of senior military Advisor to the commander of the armored and mechanized forces of the People's Liberation Army of China .
Since December 1956 he was at the disposal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces and in May 1957 he was appointed to the post of head of a special department for the training of officers of the armies of the countries of people's democracy at the Military Academy of Armored Forces .
Major General Konstantin Alekseevich Malygin left the reserve in January 1961 . He died on May 11, 1990 in Moscow . He was buried at Vvedensky cemetery .
