In the Far East, tackle is called a "grabber"
Umbrella ( colloquial ) - a fishing net stretched over a frame of four folding metal knitting needles (like an umbrella , only with its top down).
At the top of the spokes are pivotally connected, which allows the free ends of the spokes to come closer to each other.
A cable is attached to the free ends of the spokes, when tensioned, the spokes are folded (like a grab bucket of an excavator ).
To stabilize the "umbrella" at the bottom (especially with a noticeable flow), as well as to facilitate bringing into working condition, the free ends of the spokes are equipped with sinkers .
To stabilize the position of the cable under water, a small float is fixed on it.
It is used for fishing mainly in winter fishing .
Possible fishing from a boat .
The bait ( bread , porridge , grain ) is superimposed and fixed to the base of the “umbrella” on the fishing net .
The fisherman makes a hole in the ice with the help of an ice pick or an ice drill and lowers the folded “umbrella” under the ice on the cable. After touching the bottom and “picking” (loosening) the cable, the spokes automatically open and the fishing net is brought into working condition.
The fish attracted by the bait gathers near the "umbrella". From time to time, the angler pulls a trap by pulling the cable sharply, the fish gets entangled in the net, and when folded, the “umbrella” is pulled out through the hole to the surface.
Folklore
- “ Why does the fish need an umbrella?” "( Russian proverb ).
