The population of the village is 998 inhabitants (2012) [1] , 961 inhabitants (2015) [2] .
The village is located on the Baksa River (a tributary of Shegarka ), 40 km from the district center of the village of Kozhevnikovo .
The structure of the Staroyuvalinsky rural settlement, in addition to the village of Staraya Yuvala, includes the villages of Khmelevka , Zaitsevo and Yelgai, as well as the villages of Aptala , Novaya Yuvala and Staro-Chernovo. The head of the rural settlement is Viktor Nikolaevich Zelenchukov. The total population of the Staroyuvalinsky rural settlement is 2928 people.
