Biography
Georgy Barykin was born on February 4 (17), 1916 in the village of Yachmenevo of the Krasnomyl volost of the Shadrinsky district of the Perm province (now a village in the Kovrizhsky village council of the Shadrinsky district of the Kurgan region ) in the family of a peasant Filipp Alekseevich Barykin. Russian Member of the CPSU (b) since 1944 .
Georgy Filippovich Barykin graduated from elementary school in his native village, and then a seven-year school in the village of Sukhrinskoye, Sukhrinsky village council . He worked on a collective farm in the village of Borovoy (in some sources - the village of Burovaya).
He was drafted into the Red Army by the Shadrinsk RVC of the Chelyabinsk region in August 1937 . He graduated from the school of junior commanders, was the squad leader , deputy platoon commander. Later he successfully completed junior lieutenant courses, commanded artillery. In 1941, Barykin graduated from advanced training courses for command personnel.
In the army since June 1942 . He fought on the Kalinin , 2nd Belorussian and 1st Baltic fronts. He commanded a battery in the 144th anti-tank fighter artillery regiment. He was wounded nine times. For courage and bravery in battles he was awarded the Order of the Red Star.
He distinguished himself in September 1943 in stubborn battles for the cities of Dukhovshchina and Rudnya in the Smolensk region . His battery operated in battle formations of the advancing units, destroyed six anti-tank guns, five machine-gun points and a lot of enemy manpower. Barykin personally knocked out the assault gun.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 4, 1944, Captain Georgy Filippovich Barykin for repelling a tank attack of the Nazis in the battle of Dukhovshchina in September 1943, causing great damage to enemy units and showing personal courage, was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and Gold Star medals, but did not manage to receive the award.
He died in battle, in hand-to-hand combat, on July 4, 1944 near the city of Cherven, Minsk Region, Belorussian SSR . Grave No. 89 was buried in the park of Cherven, Minsk region .
