Aggravation (from an armor. Aggravatio - burdening, weighting) - exaggeration by the patient of any symptom or a painful condition . The cause may be anxiety , fear , increased self-suggestion and / or suspiciousness [1] . In forensic and military psychiatry, aggravation is often a type of simulation , in which, in an exaggerated form, the symptoms of an existing or previous mental disorder are presented [1] . Persons suffering from personality disorders , dissociative (conversion) disorders (previously called hysteria ), and iatrogeny are prone to it. Pathological aggravation occurs in the mentally ill (most often in hysterical personality disorder ), who seek to reproduce the picture of a serious somatic disease [2] .
