Zagorodsky Posad ( Zagorodye ) is the main trade and craft settlement ( posad ) of ancient Tver . The first mention in the annals dates back to 1315 . Posad was located on the right bank of the Volga , southeast of the Tver Kremlin ("out of town"; hence the name) within the borders: north - the bank of the river. Volga, south - the right bank of the river. T'maki , west - Kremlin moat, east - river bank. Volga (area of the former Spassky monastery) and the mouth of the river. Lazuri [1] [2] . The approximate area of the plot was 95 ha. On the floor (east) side, the posad was fortified with a prison, which was first mentioned in 1452 . Roads to Moscow and Vladimir passed through Zagorodye.
The streets of the settlement were crooked, built up with manor-type houses, and radially diverged from the Vladimir gates of the Kremlin, and were populated mainly by craft. So, Beregovaya Street (now Rybatskaya) went to Rybatskaya Sloboda , where fishermen lived. Bolshaya Moskovskaya Street went through bargaining (shopping malls, a guest house) to Yamskaya Sloboda . Streletskaya and Pischalnaya Slobodka were located along Moskovskaya Street. At the Blagoveshchensk gate, blacksmiths settled and worked, at the river. Lazur housed leather and malt production (ul. Malt). Many artisans had their own shops, or sold their products to merchants [3] .
On the territory of the posad, the churches of St. George ( 1390 ), Spassky Monastery ( 1360 - 72 ), the Monastery of St. Michael the Archangel ( 1320 , located outside the posad), and city bargaining ( 1327 ) are marked with chronicles. In 1626, there were 25 churches at Posad. At the end of the 17th century. in the western part of the posad there were malls, a guest yard and a trading area (the area of modern Tverskaya Square). The north-eastern part of the posad was occupied by the Yamskaya Sloboda. The main development of the late 17th century was associated with the streets of Bolshaya Moskovskaya and “Beregovaya in Rybaki” [4] .
Most of the posad was destroyed during the fire of 1763 , after regular redevelopment it was rebuilt, but lost its original significance as a craft settlement. The area occupied by Zagorodsky Posad in the past is currently located in the Central District of Tver.
