The rivers of Turkey are mainly rapids and non-navigable. Some rivers dry up [1] . The rivers of Western Turkey are characterized by floods in winter and spring, and in summer these rivers become shallow. Eastern Turkey is characterized by floods in spring and summer, which is largely due to melting snow in the mountains.
The territory of Turkey is divided between the basins of the Persian Gulf (the largest rivers of the Tigris and Euphrates ), the Caspian Sea ( Kura , Araks ), the Black Sea ( Yeshilirmak , Kyzylirmak , Chorokh , Sakarya ), the Marmara , Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. There are also several drainage lakes, the largest of which are Van and Ace . The largest river in the European part of Turkey is the Maritsa (basin of the Aegean Sea , flows through Turkey only in the lower reaches) [2] .
