Description
General Features
The Kral Dmitar Zvonimir missile boat is a Kral series boat similar to the Kral Petar Kreshimir IV boat, in physical characteristics it is 63 cm longer than the Petar Kreshimir and has higher running characteristics. The main power plant are three Soviet M504B-2 engines, generating 5,000 hp each. each. Radar systems are installed in accordance with the requirements for ships. According to the program of development of the Navy, it is planned to install the latest engine, since Russian engines do not meet the requirements of the armed forces of NATO. The speed reaches 37.8 knots, but the speed of 32-34 knots is considered optimal when consuming 2500 liters of fuel per hour. A ship can carry fuel, food and water for ten days sailing without refueling.
On a rocket boat, the quality of cabins is one of the highest: for officers and sergeants, the lounges are equipped with high-quality TVs, computers with Internet access, air conditioning, and all bathrooms have hot water. As a rule, every year the ship is sent for overhaul to the slipway, during which the underwater part of the ship, damaged by rust, is also restored. On October 28, 2006, the right engine of the ship was damaged as a result of a collision with an obstacle, which led to the temporary failure of the right rocket launcher at the stern.
Armament
The main armament is the Swedish anti-ship missiles RBS-15 , which are mounted aft: there can be from four to eight. The radius of attack is 90 km, which allows you to cover all territorial waters of Croatia. The flight altitude is 6 meters above sea level. Missiles have a range of program options and combinations: for example, they can change the trajectory to mislead the enemy or attack several targets at the same time. The anti-aircraft weapons include the Swedish anti-aircraft gun Bofors L / 70 with a caliber of 57 mm. Soviet artillery AK-630 belongs to artillery.
Electronic equipment - standard Peregrine navigation radar, television camera, anti-sabotage sonar and a number of other means of radar and electronic equipment. The main part of the ship’s control system is located in its operations center, where the ship’s commanders are located (including during combat conditions). In a battle with missiles, the boat operates only with the support of other ships and coastal missile launchers. Coordination is facilitated by information received from the Peregrine radar. Since 2007, the Croatian LINKEJ communication system has been installed on the boat as an experiment.
Surveillance radar allows missile launchers to automatically determine targets and fire at the enemy (an anti-aircraft gun is used similarly). Since 2006, to enhance efficiency, a similar system has been integrated into the AK-630 artillery mount.
Crew
The crew of the boat includes 32 people: 7 officers, 13 junior officers and 12 sailors. Any two cadets who express a desire to work on board can serve on the ship for a fee for six months or a year, and after that they must pass a special exam and prove their ability to perform certain duties. All crew recruits pass a similar exam. The crew consists of three units: one monitors the deck, the second for weapons systems, and the third is guarded. The first female commander of the ship was Daria Gvozdenchevich [1] .
