The Jumgal Basin is an intermountain basin on the Eastern Tien Shan in Kyrgyzstan , between the Jumgaltau and Moldotau ranges .
The basin is located to the west of Issyk-Kul Lake . Its length is 60 km, width - from 8 to 25 km. The bottom goes down from 2,200 m in the west to 1,430 m in the east. The basin is drained by the Jumgal River . Used for the needs of agriculture: irrigated agriculture , pastures . On the slopes of the surrounding mountains are steppes , meadows and forests of Tien Shan fir . Here live leopards , lynxes , bears , boars . In the Kavak massif there is a deposit of coal , ancient production of lead , copper and iron . The Bishkek - Osh highway passes through the basin with a branch to Naryn .
