Young years
In 1956, Gerard Kloppel responded to the invitation of Robert Ambelain, who was looking for candidates for his Martinist Order of the Elected Coens [1] . The first meeting took place in a cafe on Madeleine Square. After a two-hour conversation, Ambelain presented Kloppel with a copy of his book “Practical Kabbalah”, with great sympathy and reverence for his young, but already great erudition [1] . A few weeks later, Ambelain invited Kloppel to receive the first degrees of consecration of the "Apostolic Gnostic Church", of which he was Patriarch [1] .
In January 1958, Gerard Kloppel was ordained to the Martinist Order of Papus by Philip Ankoss himself, son of Gerard Ankoss ( Papus ). Two days later, he is given a charter on the basis of his own lodge, for which he chooses the name "Cosmos" and has been managing it for six years [1] .
In 1963, Gerard Kloppel was consecrated in the box of the Grand Lodge of France . Two years later, in 1965, he joined the Charter of Memphis-Mitzraim Robert Ambelin .
Kloppel - Ambelen's heir
In 1984, Robert Ambelin appointed Gerard Kloppel the great master for France, and in 1985 - the world great master of the Charter of Memphis-Mitzraim with all his fullness and power of continuity. Gerard Kloppel also inherited the post of leader in the Initiative of the Martinists (l'Ordre Martiniste Initiatique), which operates at the present time [2] .
He retired from his post in 1998 , entrusting the post of world great master Cheikna Sylla. Almost immediately after that, the Memphis-Mitzraim Statute throughout the world, and especially in France, suffered an unprecedented split [3] .
Dozens of different competing branches sprang from the Great French Lodge of the Charter of Memphis-Mitzrayim and the International Sovereign Sanctuary. By 2011, the world's largest associations include:
- The Grand French Lodge of the Memphis-Mitzraim
- The Great Mixed Lodge of Memphis-Mitzraim
- The Great Traditional Lodge of the Memphis-Mitzraim Statute [3]
Gerard Kloppel created the great traditional Memphis-Mitzraim lodge in 1998 and at the same time affiliated with it [3] .
