The Central Bank of Sao Tome and Principe ( Port. Banco Central de São Tomé e Príncipe ) is the central bank of the Democratic Republic of Sao Tome and Principe .

History
On January 1, 1868, an agency of the Portuguese National Overseas Bank was opened in Sao Tome . Initially, banknotes of a bank agency in Luanda were issued into circulation, on which an overprint of “Sao Tome” was put. In 1891, the agency began its own issue.
In 1976, the agency of the National Overseas Bank was reorganized into the National Bank of Sao Tome and Principe, which began issuing the national currency on July 2, 1977, is good [1] .
In 1992, as a result of banking reform, the functions of the central bank were transferred to the newly created Central Bank of Sao Tome and Principe.
