Story
Beginning Australian actress Ellie Parker is looking for work in Hollywood . Her days consist of trips to auditions and auditions, where her acting data is praised and promised to call back, but then they never call. Boyfriend Ally Justin, meanwhile, is sitting at home and composing rock songs, playing the electric guitar. Ally Sam's best friend walks with her in acting classes, but is more interested in design.
During one of the trips around the city, a guy’s car named Chris crashes into Ellie’s car. They exchange phones. Returning home, Ellie finds Justin in bed with the girl who conducted the casting. Ally and Justin break up on this.
One day, Ellie and Sam stop by a designer store owned by Chris, who, however, first says that he is Chris's twin brother. Chris later catches up with the car and apologizes for the deception (he did not want Ellie to know that he was actually not a cameraman), and also invited Ellie to a concert of a familiar group. The morning after the concert, where Ellie gets very drunk, she wakes up in Chris’s car on the outskirts of the city.
After unsuccessful attempts to get the role, Ellie thinks about her future and decides to quit acting, which she informs her agent about. At home, she calls friends she has not seen for a long time, and calls to visit, saying that she now feels free. Chris comes to her, with whom they soon find themselves in bed. However, Chris admits that now he is finally convinced that he is gay . Ellie chases him away.
Ellie calls the agent and says there is another casting offer. She goes to an audition in a hotel room, where she sees a director she knew earlier and a casting girl in the company of tipsy Russians. Not realizing whether she got on the actual casting or she is being cast, Ellie reads her role and leaves.

History
Scott Coffey and Naomi Watts met during the filming of the film " Tank Girl " ( 1995 ), where they both played. Later they became friends. The first version of the Ellie Parker movie was a 16-minute short shown at the Sundance Festival in 2001 [1] . In subsequent years, Coffey and Watts made a feature film based on it. Thus, in general, the work on the film took five years. For shooting, Coffey used a hand-held digital camera.
The 2005 film was shown on January 21 at the Sundance Festival, on June 9 at the Seattle Festival , and was released on limited release in the United States on November 11 [2] .
In the film, the supporting role was played by actress Jennifer Syme , who died in 2001. This actress is dedicated to David Lynch's film " Mulholland Drive ", in which Naomi Watts played the main role, and Scott Coffey and Mark Pellegrino played the supporting roles. In one scene of the movie “Ellie Parker,” the heroine of Watts walks past the poster of the movie “Mulholland Drive.”
Not all roles in the film are played by professional actors: for example, the writer Blair Mastbaum acted as the young director of Smash Jackson, and the role of casting agent was played by Joanna Ray , who is a casting agent in life (in most films by David Lynch).
