Union of Esperantists of the Soviet Republics

Union of Esperantists of the Soviet Republic , SECD ( Esper. Sovetrespublikara Esperantista Unio ). In June 1921, at the 3rd All-Russian Congress of Esperantists in Petrograd , the Union of Esperantists of Soviet Countries ( Esper. Sovetlanda Esperantista Unuiĝo ) was founded. In 1927, it was renamed the Union of Esperantists of the Soviet Republics. From 1921 to 1936, E. K. Dresen was the Secretary General of the SECD.

Although the Union of Esperantists of the Soviet Republics was not officially dissolved, in fact its activities ceased in 1937, when all its leaders were repressed . In 1956, after the XX Congress of the CPSU , a meeting was held in Moscow at which a decision was made to restore the SESR. However, the Secretary of the CPSU Regional Committee A. Nikiforov canceled the decision, and the members of the CPSU present at the meeting received party penalties.

In 1989, at the All-Union Conference of Esperantists in Moscow, it was decided to resume the activities of the Union of Esperantists of the Soviet Republics on the basis of the Association of Soviet Esperantists . In the same year, the CECD joined the World Esperanto Association . In connection with the collapse of the USSR at the 10th Congress of the SECD, it was decided to transform the SECD into the Russian Union of Esperantists , RoSE ( Esper. Rusia Esperantista Unio, REU ).
