Content
Title
The name comes from the Turkic name of Nogai, the founder of the Nogai Horde , which separated in the XIV century from the Golden Horde. Most likely, it was named after the first Nagai settler, Nagavka [2] .
History
Mentioned since 1672 . It was originally located on the right bank of the Don, between the villages of Verkhne-Kurmoyarskaya and Gugninskaya . Known as Nagavkin Town . In 1793, the Cossacks of the village of Nagavskaya participated in the uprising against the resettlement to the Kuban [2] .
The village was listed as part of the 2nd Don district of the Great Don Army In 1894, the village was moved to the left bank of the Don , for some time it was called Novo-Nagavskaya, and the remaining village on the right bank of the Don was a Staro-Nagavsky farm. In 1897, the population of the village amounted to 771 people (369 males and 402 females). In 1911, a two-year school was opened. In 1915, there were 267 households in total with a population of 1,312 [3] .
Soviet power was established in March 1918. Reinstalled in 1920. In 1929 a collective farm was organized (agricultural artel) [3] . From 1935 to 1950, as part of the Nagavsky Village Council of the Upper Kurmoyarsky District of the Stalingrad Territory (from 1936 - the Stalingrad Region) [4] . As part of the Kotelnikovsky district - since 1950 [5] . In the late 1940s - early 1950s, it was moved to a new place in connection with the construction of the Tsimlyansk reservoir .
Geography
Before filling the Tsimlyansk reservoir, the village was located on the left bank of the Don between the villages of Verkhne-Kurmoyarskaya and Malo-Luchnaya [6] . Currently, the village is located on the left bank of the Tsimlyansk reservoir on the northern slope of one of the spurs of the western slope of the Ergeninsky Upland of its Don-Salsky Ridge , at an altitude of about 50 meters above sea level [7] . The terrain is hilly-flat, the shore of the reservoir is steep, cut by beams and ravines [7] . Soils are dark chestnut solonetzic and solonchak soils [8] .
By road, the distance to the regional center of Volgograd (to the city center) is 240 km, to the regional center of Kotelnikovo - 35 km. The nearest railway station is the Kotelnikovo railway line Volgograd - Tikhoretskaya Volgograd region of the Volga Railway is located in the city of Kotelnikovo [9] .

The climate is temperate continental (according to the Köppen - Dfa climate classification ). The average annual air temperature is positive and is + 9.0 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest January is -5.8 ° С, the hottest month of July +23.8 ° С. The long-term rainfall is 400 mm. During the year, the amount of precipitation is distributed relatively evenly: the least amount of precipitation falls in March and October (26 mm each), the largest amount - in June (41 mm) and December (42 mm) [10] .
