Slightly convex spots with fuzzy borders of 5-6 mm in size, grayish-yellow in color appear on the affected leaves .
Ascogenous cells ( see. Protomycium # Morphology ) are formed terminally (at the ends of hyphae ), they are spherical or broadly ellipsoid, warty, 40–50 × 35–45 μm in size, with a shell up to 6 μm thick. Ascospores 4 × 2.5 μm in size.
Sporulation occurs in July - September.
Protomycopsis leucanthemi was described in Austria on the common Leucanthemum vulgare , also known in the British Isles , Germany , Norway , Switzerland and Slovakia .
