Initially, the district was called Koroinen ( Fin. Koroinen , Swede. Korois ) and included 5 districts. The population of Koroinen County was 10,419 people ( 2004 ) of which 83.01% used Finnish as their native language, 5.42% Swedish, and 12.77% another language. At the age under 15 years old, there were 14.76%, and over 65 years old - about 11.57%.
After the reform, the district was called Nummi-Khalinen , and the number of districts in it increased to 8.
