Overview
The album was released in the UK on August 26, 1991 by Food Records and ranked 7th UK Albums Chart . A month later, he went to the US with a different composition of compositions. In the UK, the album was certified gold .
In the American version of Leisure, three British singles ("She's So High", "There's No Other Way", "Bang") and the song "Sing" on the front side were replaced with the composition "I Know" from the "B" side . The Canadian version had the same set of tracks as the British version of the album. In 1996, "Sing" was included in the soundtrack of the film " On the needle ". The original version of “Sing (To Me)” was recorded in the demo version at the end of 1988 under the former name of the group - Seymour - and can only be found on extra rare promotions that were released only 20 years later in February 2000 .
The album was released in the last days of the United States chestster period and was the result of Blur catching the end of this musical trend. Also in the obvious is the influence of the genre of shoeing in such tracks as “Sing”, “Repetition”, “Birthday” and “ She's So High ”. With the release of their second album Modern Life Is Rubbish in 1993, Blur dramatically changed its style. Despite the generally positive critical reviews, the lead singer of the group, Damon Albarn , rated the Leisure album as terrible [2] . In 2008, Coldplay announced the release of Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends , containing the song “Sing” from Leisure , provided in exchange for the song “Lost!” [3] .
