Papenoo is a series of small tonnage coastal tankers built in Norway . The first two ships of this class (A625 "Papenoo" and A632 "Punaruu") were part of the French Navy , where they were used as supply tankers, for which they were equipped with special devices for transferring goods on the high seas. The service was part of the fleet based in French Polynesia . In the mid-1980s, they were sold to civilian operators. "Punaruu" in 1995, after a small repair, was included in the Navy of Tonga , where it is still used. In addition, several more ships of this class were built according to a slightly modified design for civil organizations.
