Chanchamayo ( Spanish: Provincia de Chanchamayo , Quechua Chanchamayu pruwinsya ) - one of the 9 provinces of the Peruvian region of Junin . The area is 4 732.4 km². According to 2007 data, the population is 141,127 people [1] . The population density is 30.1 people / km². The capital is the city of La Merced.

History
The province was formed on September 24, 1977.
Geography
Located in the northern part of the region. It borders with the provinces: Satipo (in the east), Hauha (in the south), Tarma (in the west) and the Pasco region (in the north).
