Biography
Born on September 2, 1920 in the city of Moscow in the family of a railway worker. Russian Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943. In 1928-1937 he studied at a secondary school, and then at the 4th Moscow Special Artillery School. I did sports. He was engaged in swimming (the champion was USSR champion Semyon Boychenko) and wrestling (coach Alexander Senatorov), played volleyball for the Moscow team, and played with the famous Starostin brothers more than once.
In the Red Army since 1940. July 22, 1941 he graduated from the 2nd Leningrad Artillery School.
Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. In July 1941, the artillery cadet Bardanov, together with the school, departed near Leningrad from Tallinn surrounded by Germans. In Leningrad on July 22, 1941, by order of the people's commissar of defense No. 0230, Bardanov was awarded the rank of lieutenant .
In the fall of 1941, Bardanov was sent near Moscow, to the city of Dmitrov , to a separate artillery division and was appointed commander of a fire platoon. He participated in the battles for the Moscow Canal, then in the winter offensive of the Soviet troops of 1941-1942.
In 1942, Bardanov was again transferred under Leningrad to the Volkhov Front . For almost a year and a half in the swampy Volkhov swamps he defended the city on the Neva.
In April 1943, on the eve of the fighting on the Kursk Bulge, Bardanov was appointed commander of a cannon battery in the 17th artillery division of the 7th corps of the breakthrough of the 27th army of the Voronezh Front . The corps artillery was armed with 122-mm howitzers and larger guns. They moved on the mechanical traction of the ChTZ caterpillar tractor. The range of a projectile from such a howitzer reached 15-16 kilometers, and if you fire from the front edge, then up to one kilometer.
For three months, local battles were fought. In them, Bardanov’s battery tested the “Lend-Lease” American equipment - “Chevrolet”, “Studebakers”, “Fords”.
July 5, 1943 began a strategic heroic defense in the Kursk direction. During the month of fighting, the 6th battery of Bardanov destroyed 15 tanks and dozens of pieces of equipment, hundreds of German soldiers. At the end of July 1943, Soviet troops, having exhausted the enemy, went on the offensive.
On August 7, 1943, on the approaches to the city of Grayvoron, Belgorod Region , a column of tanks and armored vehicles of the enemy was discovered. It was possible to evade the battle; there was no order to open fire. But Bardanov made a decision, quickly deployed the battery guns to direct fire. In this battle, 15 tanks, 10 armored vehicles, 15 vehicles, 49 motorcycles, many soldiers and officers of the Wehrmacht were destroyed. The battery managed without loss and in time to take another firing position.
On August 18-19, 1943, in the battles near the city of Akhtyrka, Sumy Region, the soldiers of the Bardanov battery shot down 5 tanks and crushed several enemy artillery batteries. On August 19, Bardanov was seriously wounded - his legs were broken. He was treated for 5 months in a hospital in the city of Sverdlovsk .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 9, 1943 “for exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the battle against the German invaders and shown courage and heroism”, Senior Lieutenant Bardanov Alexander Ivanovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal The Star ”(No. 2772).
In the spring of 1944, Bardanov returned to his unit. As part of the 17th artillery division of the breakthrough reserve reserve of the Supreme High Command passed Ukraine , Poland , Germany , Czechoslovakia .
In the newspaper “For the Honor of the Motherland” of October 25, 1944, the article “Our Glory, Our Pride” wrote about Bardanov:
“The gunner Hero of the Soviet Union A. I. Bardanov destroyed 10 German tanks and 15 armored personnel carriers. In the battles for the Vistula, he set fire to 2 self-propelled guns of the enemy and destroyed the Nazis to the company. ”
A.I.Bardanov celebrated Victory Day on May 12, 1945 near Prague .
In 1951 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze . He served in the Armed Forces of the USSR . In 1975, Colonel Bardanov retired (order of the USSR Ministry of Defense No. 01200 dated December 8, 1975). He worked as a senior engineer at the Research Institute of Economics and Economic and Mathematical Planning Methods.
In 2000, A. I. Bardanov participated in the Victory Parade on Red Square in Moscow. Was at a reception with President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin .
In 2001, A. I. Bardanov again visited Germany as part of the Peace Fund delegation. He lived in the house of the nephew of Field Marshal Erwin Rommel , whose army fought in Africa during World War II, and his nephew, as it turned out, was standing with his battery near Kursk literally opposite Bardanov’s battery.
He is an honorary citizen of Akhtyrka (Ukraine), Ruse (Bulgaria), Lyon (France).
He served as deputy chairman of the Minsk section of the Great Patriotic War veterans, permanent representative of the Coordinating Council of CIS Veteran Organizations.
He lived in the city of Minsk ( Belarus ). He died on August 19, 2011.
