Carl William Hergenrother ( Eng. Carl William Hergenrother ; 1973 ) is an American astronomer , the discoverer of comets and asteroids, who participates in the CSS survey on searching for near-earth asteroids [1] . At the moment he is working in the Laboratory of the Moon and Planets at the University of Arizona at Tucson . In the period 1993 to 1999, he discovered a total of 29 asteroids , two of which he discovered together with other American astronomers [2] . In addition, he is the discoverer of the long-period comet C / 1996 R1 (Hergenrother Spar), as well as three short-period comets 168P / Hergenrother (Polish) , 175P / Hergenrother (Polish) and P / 1999 V1 (Catalina).
