Biography
Lau Lauritzen was born on March 13, 1878 in the city of Silkeborg in central Denmark , on the Jutland Peninsula.
Since 1907 he worked as an actor in the theaters of Aarhus and Copenhagen (Casino Theater and the New Theater ). In 1911 he made his film debut, directed the short comedy “Miranda” based on the play by Carlo Goldoni .
He was a director at the Danish studios Nordisk Film and Palladium [1] . Most famous for his films “Cinema, Flirt and Betrothal” (1921), “The Sun, Summer and Students” (1922), “He, She and Hamlet” (1922), “Our Friends in Winter” (1923), “Brave Travelers” on the Riviera ”(1924),“ Don Quixote ”(1926),“ Wolf Hunters ”(1926) and some others with the participation of actors Harald Madsen and Karl Shenström (the popular comic duo Pat and Patachon ).
Son - Lau Lauritzen Jr. - Danish film director, one of the founders of the ASA Filmudlejning film studio, owner of the Golden Palm Branch of the Cannes Film Festival .
