History

The motor ship "Sergey Abramov" in the Northern River Port of Moscow in January 2008

Built in 1960 in Czechoslovakia. It was originally named "Friendship". From 1966 to 2004 he was named “Captain Rachkov” in honor of Ivan Semenovich Rachkov , captain of the steamer “Joseph Stalin”, who died on August 26, 1942, together with the ship during the evacuation of the civilian population from Stalingrad.

Contrary to the accepted tradition, it was named in honor of a living person [4] - Sergey Nikolaevich Abramov [5] , the head of the company Caesar Travel LLC - the owner of the vessel.

First Fire November 14, 2011

Moored in the northern port of Moscow. At 4.15 the fire department received a signal about a fire on the ship [6] . By evening, the stern of the vessel sank. After 15 hours from the beginning of the fire, a thirty-three-year-old ship mechanic Alexey Shatin was found and sent to hospital [7] . As a result of the fire, the motorist German Koligayev died [8] .

Second Fire November 23, 2011

During the emergency work on the ship there was a fire. As a result of the investigation, it turned out that the cause of the fire was an extinguished cigarette butt in the crew cabin [9] . On November 8, 2012, “Sergey Abramov” was towed to Cherepovets for cutting [10] .
