Biography
Orthodox. The son of Lieutenant-General Count George Fedorovich Mengden (1836-1902). The younger brother Dmitry (1873-1953) is also a knight guard.
At the end of the Corps of Pages in 1881, he was released as a cornet to the Cavalry Regiment . In 1886 he was appointed head of the regimental school of soldiers' children. In 1891-1896 he was a regimental adjutant. July 22, 1897 produced by the captain with the appointment of a wing adjutant . From December 16, 1897 to May 7, 1898, he commanded the 3rd squadron of the regiment.

On March 20, 1898, he was appointed as the Head of the Courtyard of Grand Duke Sergei Alexandrovich , and on April 18, 1905 - as the Head of the Courtyard of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna . In 1908 he was promoted to major general with enrollment in retinue .
On November 20, 1908, he was appointed commander of the Cavalry Regiment, and on November 4, 1912, he was appointed commander of the 2nd Brigade of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Division , with which he entered the First World War . From October 11, 1914, he was at the disposal of the Commander-in-Chief of the armies of the Western Front . December 6, 1916 promoted to lieutenant general.
In 1917 he was observing the Vilna assembly point of cavalry units in Luga . During the February Revolution, he was arrested by soldiers and killed in the guardhouse . He was buried at the Luga city cemetery.
From 1890 he was married to the court lady, Maria Arturovne Kassini (? —1938), the daughter of the diplomat Count A. P. Cassini . He had no children.
