Biography
There is no information about the early years of Peter Bot's life. It is known that in 1599 he served as an admiral in the Brabant company ,. In the same year he went to the East Indies with four ships.
When the Brabant Company was transformed into the Dutch East India Company , Peter Bot was appointed Governor-General of the Dutch East Indies, which was located on the territory of modern Indonesia . He held this position from December 19, 1610 to November 6, 1614 . During his tenure as governor, trade relations were established with the Moluccas , the island of Tidore was conquered, and the island of Ternate was recaptured from the Spaniards.
In 1614, Bot left his post, transferring control of the colony to Gerard Reinst , and with four ships went to the Netherlands. Two ships, including the one on which the boat was located, sank in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of Mauritius.
