Around 1250, he completed writing the encyclopedia “On the Properties of Things” ( De proprietatibus rerum ). The encyclopedia consists of 19 books in which various aspects of medieval science are presented: theology, medicine, astronomy, geography, etc. Various phenomena collected and distributed by category are located inside each book in alphabetical order. Information is of the most general nature. In presenting them, Bartholomew refers to authorities recognized in the Middle Ages, including Aristotle , Herodotus , Isidore of Seville , Pavel Oroziy , Pliny the Elder , and Arab astronomers.
