Geography
It is located in the south of the district, 20 kilometers south of the Sasovo district center. There is the nearest railway station Sasovo .
Nearest settlements:
- the village of Bolshoi Studenets adjoins from the north;
- the village of New Berezovo 1 km south-east on an asphalt road.
Nature
Climate
The climate is temperate continental with moderately hot summers (average July temperature +19 ° C) and relatively cold winters (average January temperature −11 ° C). Precipitation is about 600 mm per year.
Relief
Altitude 91–110 m [2] .
Hydrography
It is located on a nameless stream - a tributary of Tsna. A passing dam was created with the formation of a pond.
Soil
In the valley and the floodplain, Tsoni are alluvial soils (loams and sandy loams), higher, turning southwest into chernozem.
History
The village was the place of residence of the Shatsky Murz Engalychevs . They also lived in the unspoiled village of Ryazanovka.
Small Studeney in the 17th century, the ownership of the brothers of the capital, princes D.I. and M.I. Engalychevs . Then the estate belonged to the grandson of the last guard, Lieutenant, Prince N.K. Engalychev (born 1739), married to A.I. Language (g / p 1751). Further, their son, a writer from the circle of the educator N.I. Novikov , the author of the "Common Healer ", the county leader of the nobility, Prince P.N. Engalychev (1769-1829), married to N.F. Protasieva (1776-1840). Then their son, Prince E.P. Engalychev (1802-1853), married to M.I. Neplyueva . Then the son of the latter, Prince A.E. Engalychev (g / p 1825) and until 1917 to his heirs.
It has survived: a strongly rebuilt one-story main house, a ruined farm building, the existing Church of the Nativity of the Virgin 1802 in the style of mature classicism built by Prince P.N. Engalychev, possibly according to the project of architect N.A. Lviv, the house of the parable, the pond.
The manor library, archive and collection of paintings and other artistic values disappeared after 1917, their fate is unknown.
Prince P.N. Engalycheva, his daughter Princess A.P. Engalycheva and possibly other family members portrayed O.A. Kiprensky , V.L. Borovikovsky and D.G. Levitsky .
The estate was visited by the artist O.A. Kiprensky.
In the village was and is now completely lost the estate of the noblemen Arnoldi [3] .
In 1893, Maly Studenets was part of the Novo-Berezovskaya volost of the Shatsky district of the Tambov province . From 2004 to the present, it has been part of the Malostudenetsk rural settlement . Until that moment, it was part of the Malostudenetsk rural district .

15 people work at the agricultural enterprise LLC Studenetskoye.
Industry
1 km north-west of the village is located the Malo-Studenetskoye deposit of building stones, specializing in the extraction of limestone for construction.
Infrastructure
Road Network
An asphalt road of inter-district significance Alyoshino - Yambirno passes through the village. As of April 2018, the road is in disrepair and practically unsuitable for car traffic. The village includes the Microdistrict and 8 streets [6] : Bolnichnaya, Yesenina, Kolkhoznaya, Lenina, Lugovaya, Molodezhnaya, Sovetskaya, Shkolnaya.
Transport
Communication with the district center is carried out by bus routes of suburban importance: No. 103 Sasovo - Novoe Berezovo , No. 106 Sasovo - Yambirno . Buses of medium capacity ( PAZ-3205 ) run daily, several times a day.

The post office of communication is operating - index 391448 (until 01/01/2000 - 391622) [7] . Serves the settlements of the Malostudenetsk rural settlement.
Engineering Infrastructure
The village receives electricity through a 10 kV transmission line from the 35/10 kV Studenets substation, located on the northern outskirts. The village is gasified. There is central water supply.
Education
The village has a high school [8] . The building is two-story, built according to the standard plan in 1989. There is also a kindergarten for 25 children.
Health
There is a two-story Malostudenetsk district hospital.
Recreation and tourism
In the center of the village, below the dam, near the stream there is a spring equipped with a font.
Culture
Temple in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary [9] . Opposite him is a monument to the fallen in the great Patriotic war.
Interesting Facts
- It got its name from the numerous cold springs located in the vicinity.
- The nearby Bolshoi Studenets is much smaller both in terms of population and infrastructure development than Maly Studenets.
