The team performs in the Eastern Division of the National Football Conference of the National Football League . Throughout its history, the club became the NFL champion three times and participated in the Super Bowl three times, losing twice (in 1980 Oakland Raiders and in 2004 New England Patriots ) and winning the New England Patriots one time in the 2018 final of the year.

The club was founded in 1933 as a replacement for the bankrupt Frankford Yellow Jackets team, when a group of businessmen led by Bert Bell won the right to receive the NFL football team in Philadelphia.
