Geographical position

Located in the east of the district, 40 km along the asphalt road Sasovo -Kustaryovka and 26 km by rail from the district center Sasovo .

Nearest localities:

  • Verkhne-Nikolskoye village, 12 km to the north along an asphalt road;
  • Pichkiryayevo village, 14 km to the southeast by rail;
  • the village of Saltykovo , 15 km to the south by rail;
  • Klyuchi village, 6 km to the west along a dirt sandy road;

Climate

The climate is moderately continental with moderately hot summer (average July temperature is +19 ° C) and relatively cold in winter (average January temperature is –11 ° C). Rainfall is about 600 mm per year.

Relief

Altitude 147-156 m [3] . The relief is flat with small elevations and depressions with very gentle slopes, which makes drainage difficult, as a result of which the territories are swamped from the north and east.

Hydrography

In half a kilometer to the south-east of the village there are two fire ponds with a total area of ​​3.9 hectares. The pond is used as a place of active recreation. From the north, the village is bordered by wetlands, among which two marshes stand out clearly: the Burner (83 hectares) and the Snake (40 hectares).

Soils

Soils are predominantly gray forest, represented by sandy loams and loams.

Plant World

The village is surrounded on all sides by natural mixed (birch, aspen, and occasionally oak) and coniferous (pine, spruce) forests closely approaching the residential area. During the 2010 forest fires, the surrounding forests were severely affected, up to complete burnout in some areas.

History

Until 2004, the village was part of Kustaryovskiy rural district . From 2004 to the present, part of the Kustaryovskogo rural settlement . High growth rates of the settlement were observed at the turn of the XIX — XX centuries. in connection with the construction of the railway, to provide locomotives with water. The growth of the settlement was also present in the second half of the 20th century, when the plant of machine tool assemblies (a branch of the Ryazan machine-tool plant) was put into operation.

Household

You can get to the district center by electric train ER2 (6 pairs daily) and on the suburban diesel train PA2 (2 pairs daily). The fare to Sasov is 49.5 rubles [13] .
