Pittsburgh Steelers ( English Pittsburgh Steelers , "Pittsburgh Steelmakers") - a professional club for American football from the city of Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , USA . The team was founded in 1933 and was originally called the Pittsburgh Pirates, but since 1945, after several name changes, the club has its current name. The Steelers play in the National Football League (NFL) in the North Division of the American Football Conference (AFC). The owner of the club is Dan Rooney. The club spends its home games at the Heinz Field .

Pittsburgh is the oldest and most titled AFC team. The Steelers played in eight Super Bowls and won it six times. The team also participated in 13 final games of the conference. Pittsburgh is the only NFL playoff team to win the Super Bowl as the sixth seeded, winning three away games and ending the season with a victory over the Seattle Seahawks at the Super Bowl XL in Detroit on February 5, 2006 . (In 2011, the Green Bay Packers team repeated this achievement)
