Jacquinot, along with his older brother, naval officer Charles-Hector Jacquinos, took part in the Dumont-Durville expedition on the Astrolabe ship from 1837 to 1840 [1] .
During a stop off the coast of New Zealand, Jacquinot, together with Jacques Bernard Ombron, described and sketched 15 species of mollusks , as well as several species of birds, fish and crustaceans [2] .
