Biography
Pavel Zhadovsky was born on June 13, 1825 in the village of Subbotino, Lyubimsky district, Yaroslavl province.
He studied in the first Moscow cadet corps (graduated in 1847 ), served in the Moscow regiment, participated in the Hungarian campaign ( 1848 - 1849 ) and the Crimean War ( 1853 - 1856 ), was wounded three times, and after concussion transferred to the civil service with the rank of staff captain [1] .
In 1860 - 1863 - a mayor in Kuznetsk, Saratov province , then a police officer in the Chukhloma district of the Kostroma province , assistant postmaster of the Samara province .
Having retired, he lived in the city of St. Petersburg , where he died on July 24, 1891. Buried in the Sergiev desert [1] .
Literary activity
How the poet made his debut in the late 1840s . Published collections of poems "Poems" (Petersburg, 1859 ), "Collection of poems" (Petersburg, 1872 ). The author of the memoirs "Excerpts from the memoirs of the Crimea of 1855 and 1856 " and "On the bastions of Sevastopol"; wrote stories, novels, essays. The novel "Everyday Scenes" (M., 1859 ) was allowed for publication, but after unauthorized replacement of the text permitted by censorship, it was forbidden to use. He wrote in Moskvityanin , Sovremennik , Library for Reading, Domestic Notes, and others. His Collected Works was published in 1886.
