Boris Stepanovich Feoktistov ( Krasnoyarsk ; August 23, 1911 - 1990 ) - virtuoso balalaika [1] . Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1959). 2nd Prize at the All-Union Competition of Folk Instruments (1939). He studied the balalaika under G.I. Troshin in Krasnoyarsk. In 1933-36 he studied at the Moscow School of Music. Ippolitov-Ivanov in the class of cello by L. M. Seidel. Since 1936, being in the ranks of the Soviet Army, he played the cello in the symphony orchestra of the Central House of the Soviet Army. In 1938-71 - soloist of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Soviet Army. A.V. Aleksandrova (balalaika). Feoktistov’s repertoire includes arrangements for the balalaika of works by Russian and Western European classics, compositions by Soviet composers, Russian folk songs, and music of the peoples of the USSR. His game is virtuoso. Feoktistov owns the processing and arrangement of works for balalaika with piano, including Variations on the theme of Rococo P.I. Tchaikovsky, Mozart-Kreisler rondo.

Biography
Boris Stepanovich Feoktistov was born in 1911 in Krasnoyarsk. For several years, Feoktistov was engaged in an amateur orchestra of folk instruments, gaining the experience of solo performances there. [2] .
The thirties made a big difference in the life of a young man. Once a group of Moscow artists arrived in Krasnoyarsk, their program lacked a concert number. On the recommendation of local musicians, a young balalaika was invited. The performance on the professional stage was successful, and soon Feoktistov went to Moscow. Here he enters the College of Music. Ippolitov-Ivanov in the cello class. From here he was called up for military service.
Since 1938, after serving in the army of Feoktistov, he was a soloist in the orchestra of the Red Banner Ensemble. Alexandrova (at that time the Red Banner Ensemble of the Red Army Song and Dance).
In 1939, he became a laureate of the All-Union Exhibition of Performers on Folk Instruments (taking second place).
Feoktistov toured a lot and abroad. And everywhere the Russian balalaika gained recognition. Soviet and foreign listeners praised the virtuoso play of B. S. Feoktistov, his smooth plastic sound, high creative skill, dedication.
Feoktistov was not only a performer. He is the author of many arrangements, arrangements of violin and cello pieces by Russian and foreign classics.
Memory
In honor of Boris Stepanovich Feoktistov, all-Siberian festivals and competitions are held in Krasnoyarsk [3] .
