Soon after the birth of Georges, his parents moved to Paris, in which the artist spent almost his entire life. He studies painting at the Academy of Julian , and then in the studio of the artist Desiree Lodge. Influenced by the work of Claude Monet , the young Dufrenois paints landscapes and still lifes in an impressionistic manner. Having visited Italy several times, the artist, along with the views of Paris, paints Siena, Genoa and Venice. In 1912, he paints with a fresco painting ( Pieta ) the chapel of St. Pancrasa in the town of Grambois in Vaucluse .

In 1910, his paintings were shown at the World Exhibition in Brussels, in 1921 - at the Triennial in Liege and in 1926 - at the Paris Grand Palace at the exhibition of Independent Art. In 1929, in Pittsburgh, for one of his still lifes, the artist was awarded the Carnegie Prize . The last lifetime exhibition of works by J. Dufrenois took place in 1939. A posthumous retrospective of his work took place in 1948 and in 1992 in Paris.
