Biography
Born May 22, 1922 in Kazan .
After graduation, he worked as a mechanic at a factory in the city of Chimkent in Kazakhstan .
He was drafted into the Red Army in January 1943. After graduating from the military infantry school, he was sent to the front, serving as a gunner in the artillery division. In November 1943, in Ukraine, near the city of Fastov , while repelling enemy attacks, Nikolai Chuntonov shot down several German guns and destroyed a large number of enemy soldiers.
Member of the CPSU since 1944 . In 1945, N. G. Chuntonov graduated from the Khabarovsk Artillery School, participated in the war with Japan. In 1955, Senior Lieutenant Chuntonov went into reserve.
He graduated from the Construction Institute, worked as the chief architect of the Leninsky district of the Moscow region.
He died on June 17, 1977 . He was buried in Moscow at the Kuzminsky cemetery, the grave is an object of cultural heritage [1] .
Rewards
- The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded on January 10, 1944 .
- He was awarded the Orders of Lenin, Red Star and medals.
Memory
- The name of Nikolai Grigoryevich is Chuntonov Street in the Volga region of Kazan [2] [3] .
- In Moscow, a memorial plaque was installed on the house where the Hero lived [4] .
