Kurdul (village)

It is located on the northern slope of the Main Caucasian Range , in the Kurdul River Valley, 21 km northwest of the district center of the village of Rutul .

According to legend, the Kurduls - immigrants from s. Khnov Akhtynsky district . They were the smallest tukhum in this village. Once during the wedding of another tukhum, the men of this little tukhum stole the groom's pants. And that was a great shame for the family. A scandal erupted between the Tukkhums, which led to the murder of a member of one of the Tukhkums. Subsequently, under the threat of reprisal, with the onset of darkness, the little tukhum left Khnov . Until the morning they walked through the Borchinsky Pass along the Kurdul River Valley in order to find a reliable, safe place for themselves. Finally they found on the rock where Kurdul is now located, in Tsakhur - Lek. Khnovtsy, without hesitation, came to avenge blood, but could not overcome the resistance of the opponents, who came to the aid of the inhabitants of the Tsakhur Valley (Mountain Magal).

Since ancient times, the inhabitants of the village were breeders, tinkers. Kurdul farm them. K.Marxa was the most advanced, diversified in the area: sheep breeding, dairy farms, poultry farms, beekeeping, grain production. Local honey was known not only in Dagestan , but also in Azerbaijan . Currently, many Kurduls live outside the village. Due to lack of work, they moved to other regions of Dagestan and to the regions of Russia .
