Short story
The story told in the film “Marshal of the Revolution” - a chronicle of fifty days from the life of the legendary civil war commander Mikhail Vasilyevich Frunze - from the moment he was appointed commander of the southern front until the day when the telegraph transmitted the long-awaited message: “Moscow, to the Chairman of the Defense Council, comrade Lenin. Today, our cavalry is occupied by Kerch. The southern front is liquidated. Frunze ” [3] .K. Marinina
Autumn 1920 , the last stage of the Civil War in Crimea . Units of the Red Army under the command of Frunze should take Perekop and complete the final rout of the White Army, Baron Wrangel . Night fell, wet and cold. Sivash's dead water gleams in the moonlight. The village sleeps on a high bank. And at the very water of the cart. Voices, jerky commands, horse neighing, creaking of a tachanka descending along a slope, the sound of hoofs. Starving soldiers who have not been at home for six years. The devotion to the revolution brought them here this cold autumn, to the lifeless steppes scorched by the sun and war. A small bonfire, closed on all sides with burlap, has a group of soldiers: they stand and sit together, listen carefully, trying not to miss a single word. - Comrade Communists! - says Frunze. - Today you have been given the opportunity to take advantage of the only privilege that the communist has - the right to go to battle first. Before you are eight miles of salty ice mud, but you have to prove - and you prove! - that Sivash is not an obstacle for the Red Army. You, three hundred communists, are the first to step on the land of Crimea, and regiments and divisions will follow you. My comrades, the Communists! Forward to defeat Wrangel! And then a rocket soared quickly, and in a cloudy light appeared rows of barbed wire above the Sivash water. The soldiers rushed to the attack. Here is the wire. They chop it with axes, tear it off with staves of bayonets, throw it overcoats. From the darkness, the light of the spotlights slashed right into my eyes, grabbing the space in front of the Turkish Wall, the lights of machine-gun flashes fluttered. On the right, frozen ground beneath thousands of hooves. These red horsemen, unfolding in two lavas, cover the flanks of the White Cossacks [4] .
Perekop taken. Tired Frunze walks along the corridor of the Wrangel field headquarters. Jubilant cries come from the courtyard: “Kerch has been taken!” Frunze goes out onto the porch of the headquarters, joyful Red Army men congratulate him, hug him and begin tossing them in his arms. A stopped frame ends the film. Such Frunze will remain in the hearts of the audience - young, tired, illumined by the happiness of victory [5] .Chelyabinsk worker

Artistic Features
The scriptwriter and director have chosen a modern technique - “the film adaptation of the document”. Archival materials, military orders, maps - all this finds a cinematic solution in action, shows not only the essence of the events, but also the personality of the main character - the commander of the southern front, Mikhail Vasilyevich Frunze. This film firmly holds the attention of the audience: there is a fierce duel between two systems, two leaders - the communist Frunze and the white general Wrangel. We see that the fate of military operations is decided not only by the skill and courage of the soldiers and commanders, but also by the power of the mind, the knowledge of the marshal of the revolution and his staff. Before us is revealed the intellectual side of the war [6] .
One of the best scenes of the actor Gennady Egorov is Frunze’s meditations on the eve of the assault on Perekop, when the usual restraint leaves the commander when he thinks with pain: “Give me a rifle! I will go privates, I can no longer bear the unbearable burden of lives and deaths [7] .TVNZ
