Steven Yeun ( Eng. 스티븐 연 , December 21, 1983 , Seoul , Republic of Korea ) is an American actor of Korean descent, known for his role as Glenn in the television series The Walking Dead .

Biography
Stephen Young was born in Seoul ; at the age of about five, he and his family moved to North America. At first, the Young family settled in the Canadian city of Regina [1] , but soon moved to the United States and settled in the suburb of Detroit , the city of Troy . In Detroit, the Young family founded a network of beauty salons [2] . In 2005, Stephen Young graduated from Kalamazoo College , where he studied psychology. Even in his first year, he got acquainted with the work of a student improvisational group , became interested in the acting profession. After studying for a year in a student drama circle, in his second year he became a member of the Monkapult troupe, while playing in the theater. When Stephen told his parents after graduating from college that he did not plan to become a doctor or lawyer, but wanted to try himself in the genre of improvisational comedy, they supported his son and gave him two years to finally decide on his future [3] .
In 2005, shortly after graduating from college, Young moved to Chicago , following college mate Jordan Klepper, who put him on tour with the famous Chicago improvisation band The Second City . Young studied in the group the skill of improvisation, since 2007 he began to teach. At the same time, he performed in the comedy group Stir Friday Night, consisting of Asian Americans [3] . After working for four years at The Second City, Young decided that he wanted to develop an acting career. In October 2009, he moved to Los Angeles [4] .
After moving to Los Angeles, Young auditioned for the role in the pilot series of the new comedy series ABC Awkward Situations for Men, but did not receive it [5] . Instead, he was offered a cameo role in one of the episodes of The Big Bang Theory [4] . The second test for Yong was successful. He got the role of Glenn, a pizza delivery man who ended up in a group of survivors of the zombie apocalypse , in the drama series of the AMC channel The Walking Dead . Yong’s character remains one of the main characters throughout the six seasons of the series [2] ; in 2011 , the actor himself was nominated for this role for the Saturn Award, as the best supporting actor in the background [6] .
In addition to filming in films and television series TV series, Yong is engaged in dubbing the characters of computer games and cartoons. Even before his move to Los Angeles, he voiced Korean soldiers in the games Crysis and Crysis Warhead [7] . In 2013, Young voiced a character named Wang in the animated series Avatar: The Legend of Korra [8] . He also voiced the main character of the animated film Chew, created from the eponymous comic book [7] , and the character of Keith in the animated series Voltron: Legendary Defender .
Personal life
On December 3, 2016, in Los Angeles, Young married Joan Pak, who works as a photographer. [9] March 17, 2017 the couple had a son, Jude Malcolm Young [10] .
