History

To ensure the operation of industrial enterprises evacuated to Tomsk during the Great Patriotic War , there were insufficient generating capacities in the city. The construction of GRES-2 began in May 1943 by order of the State Defense Committee . On May 28, 1945 the state district power station-2 gave the first current, and on June 1 it was put into operation. In the future, the station was constantly being completed and modernized, it was converted to gas, and in 1963 it was included in the Siberian Unified Energy System .

In October 2009, a T-50 turbine with an installed capacity of 50 MW and capable of producing up to 106 Gcal / h of thermal energy was put into commercial operation as part of the DPM project.

Fuel

The main type of fuel at GRES-2 is coal. Until 1980, the station operated on one corner. In the late 80s, gas was commissioned at GRES-2, and three boilers began to operate exclusively on gas [2] .

Currently, the station uses both gas and coal: coal as fuel, gas for ignition. Tomsk Oblast Governor Viktor Kress made a proposal to transfer the station completely to coal, but his proposal was not supported by power engineers [3] . In the end, Kress agreed with the gas option for the development of the station [4] .

Ash dumps

The old ash dump GRES-2 was commissioned in 1973 and is located in the Ushayki valley (near the end of Sibirskaya St.) [5] , and is currently not used. It has accumulated 450 thousand tons of ash and slag waste on an area of 35.8 hectares.

The new ash dump in the valley of Malaya Kirgizka (near the Tomsk-Severny station) [6] was commissioned in 1986, and now 1251 thousand tons of waste have been accumulated on its area of 60.9 hectares (in 2003, 18.7 thousand were received. tons). Data as of 2003 [7] .
