The state of Idaho has 16 characters accepted by the state legislature. Symbols reflect the history and culture of the state [1] .
The first symbol of Idaho was the seal , adopted in 1863 by the territory of Idaho . The second symbol was the state motto, adopted shortly after Idaho adopted state status. Five characters were adopted between 1900 and 1950, among them three were adopted in 1931. Six characters were adopted between 1950 and 2000 and three after 2000. Two accepted characters were proposed by students; the breed of horses of Appaloosa became a symbol at the suggestion of sixth-grade students from the city of Eagle ; Butterfly Danaida Monarch was proposed as a symbol by Boise elementary school students in 1992. The last accepted state symbol is the peregrine falcon . It was adopted in 2004.
