At the heart of the plain is the Scythian plate [2] . The surface is composed of sedimentary rocks of the Meso - Cenozoic age, covered with loess-like loams and clays . The height of the plain reaches 100-150 m. In the north-west there are gas deposits.

The climate is temperate continental; the amount of precipitation is 400-600 mm per year. The vegetation of the plain is a continuation of the southern Russian steppes and belongs to the province of the Black Sea different grass-fescue-feather grass steppes (Schiffers, 1953). Currently, the plain territory is almost developed and agricultural landscapes extend on the site of the former steppes. Natural vegetation is preserved only along roads and forest belts, in riverine depressions, in the bottoms of depressions and gullies [3] . The lowland adjacent to the sea is divided into many branches of the Kuban, and in the swampy areas there are floodplains . Many estuaries - salty and fresh lakes, separated from the sea by braids .

The population is engaged in grain growing , rice growing , gardening .
