Pavel Yakovlevich Prangishvili ( Georgian. პავლე ფრანგიშვილი ; real name Kandinashvili ; October 5 (17), 1897 - June 22, 1966 , Tbilisi ) - Georgian director and actor. People's Artist of the Georgian SSR (1941).
From 1911 he played in the Tiflis Folk Theater, from 1913 - in the Tiflis Drama Troupe, then in the theaters of Kutaisi , Poti , Gori . In 1929 - 1939 and 1949 - 1958 . headed the drama theater in Chiatura , in the ten-year interval - in Gori.
As the Theater Encyclopedia noted, in the performing repertoire of Prangishvili, heroic and dramatic roles prevailed - including Othello in Shakespeare’s tragedy of the same name , Karl Moore in Schiller ’s Robbers , David Eristavi in The Motherland.

He was married to actress Varvara Gvazava. Their son is actor and director Tengiz Kandinashvili .
