The Latvian Academy of Arts ( Latvian. Latvijas Mākslas akadēmija ) is a public institution of higher education in Latvia . Founded in 1919 by one of the first Latvian professional artists, Wilhelm Purvitis (1872-1945), who became the first rector of an educational institution.

The Academy building was built in 1905 according to the project of the architect V. Boxlough [1] .
The Academy provides higher education in the field of fine arts with degrees: Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts and Doctor of Arts [2] .
