The Archdiocese of Kaunas ( lit. Kauno arkivyskupija ) is one of the two Catholic archdioceses - the Metropolitan of the Latin Rite in Lithuania with a chair in the city of Kaunas ( Kaunas County ). It is part of the church province of Kaunas. Suffragan dioceses for her are: the diocese of Vilkaviskis , the diocese of Telšiai and the diocese of Šiauliai . The Latin name for the archdiocese is Archidioecesis Kaunensis . The Cathedral of the Archdiocese is the Church of Saints Peter and Paul .

The diocese was founded in 1417 as the diocese of Zemaitija . In 1926 it was transformed into the archdiocese of Kaunas [1] .
Currently, the Archbishop Department of Kaunas is occupied (since June 11, 2015 ) by Lönginas Virbalas . Auxiliary Bishop from September 27, 2012 - Kestutis Kevalas .
