Geography
The two main islands of Surin Nya (North Surin Island) and Surin Tai (South Surin Island) are located very close: they are separated by only 200 meters of shallow sea. The other three - Ko Ri, Ko Khei and Ko Klang - are small rocky islands. Of the flora there are only dwarf trees, but near some there are excellent coral reefs ( the Staghorn coral reef near Ko Khei).
The islands are also known for their bays (there are more than 10 here), among which the serene Mer Khei or Ma Yai and Ao Luk or the deep bay, famous for its deep emerald waters with the most beautiful coral reef in shallow water.
The islands are home to sea gypsies of the Moken tribe.
Mu Ko Surin National Park
Mu Ko Surin National Park is located in the Andaman Sea about 60 km from the coast of Phang Nga province, which is located on the southern part of the peninsula.
The total area of the park is 141 km², 108 of which are the sea. This territory was declared a national park on July 9, 1981. This was done to preserve the unique beauty and wealth of the underwater world, and of course the main wealth - reefs .
These stunning islands are open to visitors from November 16 to May 15.
A few kilometers north of the park is the border with Myanmar and about 100 km to the south are the Similan Islands .
